About IAOP

The International Association of Oral Pathologists was established in 1976. Its major objectives are the development and promotion of the practice of oral pathology and the advancement of knowledge in clinical aspects, laboratory diagnosis and research in oral pathology and also the encouragement of communication between individuals of all nations in pursuance of these objectives. Any individual who is interested in oral pathology is eligible for membership of the association, provided that such a person conforms to the recognised standards of professional ethics.

The IAOP holds a congress every two years. These have been held in Gothenberg, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Philadelphia, Tokyo, Hamburg, York, Toronto, Cape Town, Guatemala, Singapore, Madrid, Brisbane and San Francisco. The proceedings generally include plenary lectures, symposia, slide seminars, free communications in oral and poster format and continuing education sessions.
The 14th International Congress on Oral Pathology and Medicine was held in San Francisco 21-26 June 2008.
The 15th International Congress on Oral Pathology and Medicine will be held in Seoul, South Korea, from 16-20 August 2010.
